EFM Groups |
|---|
The EFM group is the heart of the EFM programme, it is where people meet to consider the readings and to reflect theologically.
Who can join an EFM group?
Anyone who is willing to do the reading and share in the reflection process.
How often does an EFM group meet?
Weekly or fortnightly, for 2 to 3 hours.
How long does the EFM programme last?
Group members sign up for one year at a time; the whole programme takes 4 years, with extra time if the New Zealand material is done at the end.
How big is an EFM group?
From 6 to 10 members
Who leads an EFM group?
A trained mentor leads a group.
What is the role of the EFM mentor?
The mentor is responsible for the group process. The group members do their own reading – the mentor does not teach the material. The mentor facilitates theological reflection.
What happens at each meeting?
There are three components to an EFM meeting: worship, discussion of the readings and theological reflection. Group members provide the worship and the incidents for theological reflection. Initially, the mentor facilitates the meeting. As the group progresses, while the mentor continues to support and assist as required, group members take over the role of facilitator.
How many groups are there in New Zealand?
At July 2010, there are fifteen groups.
How do I join an EFM group?
Contact the EFM Development Officer who will put you in contact with a current group that is accepting new members, or keep your name till a new group starts in your area.
I contacted EFM, but why haven't I heard about a group?
Because group members all read the same lesson material at the same time, groups do not take in new members throughout the year. New groups can start at any time, but they need a minimum of 6 members plus an accredited mentor in order to start.
