Eduction for the Ministry

 Sessions

EfM: Classic is a four-year programme of study and reflection. The EfM programme covers the range of the Christian tradition from the earliest period to the present.

Year 1: Who is Israel? (The Old Testament)
Year 2: Who is Jesus? (The New Testament)
Year 3: Who and What is the Church in the World? (Church History)
Year 4: Who Are We to Be in the World? (Ethics and Spirituality)

There is also EfM: Wide Angle which touches all 4 areas in a single year. EfM: Wide Angle is offered to those who would like to try EfM with a shorter course and to those who have done EfM in the past and would like another taste

In New Zealand, Year 3 also includes material which focuses on The History of the Church in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Each year of the EfM programme covers 36 sessions, framed into four units of study, as well as two “Community Gatherings” in which participants in all years of the EfM programme read a common text. Pathwright is a learning appilcation which contains the framework for each year of study, guiding participants through their learning with questions and reflections to stimulate their study and thinking, and to guide their group discussion.

Each year EfM focuses on a particular theme:

2026: The Journey with God
2027: Following Jesus
2028: Listening to the Spirit
2029: Engaging the World

The cycle may be repeated starting in 2030.
